My Story

Welcome to Uniquely More!

I'm Melissa, the designer, crocheter, animal lover, and dreamer behind Uniquely More.

I've been crocheting since I was seven years old. My mom handed me a crochet hook and a ball of yarn and told me to learn. Since she was left-handed and I'm right-handed, teaching me wasn't exactly easy, but somehow I figured it out. More than forty years later, I'm still creating with yarn.

What started as a creative hobby eventually became a business, and Uniquely More has now been part of my life for nearly two decades.

I live in rural Nebraska where life is filled with animals, open skies, wildflowers, and plenty of inspiration. Over the years I've shared my home with goats, chickens, alpacas, llamas, rabbits, dogs, cats, and more. Many of my most popular designs have been inspired by the animals I love and the everyday adventures of farm life.

You may know me for my crochet egg gathering aprons, chicken hats, animal-themed patterns, or other unique farm-inspired creations. Designing crochet patterns is one of my favorite things to do because it combines creativity, problem solving, and a little bit of imagination.

Life hasn't always been easy. In 2010, I suffered a stroke at age 29 and had to relearn many everyday skills, including crochet. Over the years I've also navigated health challenges, family struggles, and plenty of unexpected twists and turns. My middle daughter was born with Craniosynostosis and has Chiari. Through it all, crochet has remained a source of comfort, creativity, and hope.

Today, Uniquely More is inspired by everything I love most: family, animals, farm life, wildflowers, yarn, and finding beauty in ordinary moments.
